CAE development of a plastic crash pad example: Corsa door panel Status and future challenges

摘要

During side impact crash, vehicle occupants have to be protected effectively from excessive load levels by deformation elements, so-called crash pads. In order to cope with differing load-limit values over the area of contact, a plastic crash pad with collapsing cones was developed for the OPEL Corsa. Potential is pointed out for future further development.
