WI-FI DIRECT AS A MOBILE STUDENT QUIZZING PLATFORM: A Case Study

Bluetooth has traditionally been the most common means of facilitating ad hoc communication between mobile devices. However, it has the shortcomings of being slow and short ranged. Wi-Fi Direct is a more modern standard that allows connections in the absence of external wireless networking infrastructure. This paper explores the use of Wi-Fi Direct technology to form the communication basis of a classroom quizzing system which consists of a client and a server running on the Android platform. The Quiz application uses the learning benefits of a digital classroom quizzing concept with the economics, speed and expansive range considerations afforded using Wi-Fi Direct.
