In this paper a new evaluation method and tool for the laboratory classroom is proposed and evaluated. This method targets to solve the problems identified in laboratory work dealing with Abstract studies like Fourier and Laplace transformations, mainly low motivation. The developed tool implements a fastfeedback on-line exam (web-based) through an examination server. This e-learning tool includes several novel characteristics: Fast-feedback and data-mining for identification of the difficulties in these subjects. The data-mining technique introduced target to localise local-minima in the student concept learning considering the success rate and the answer speed. The tool has been developed employing VisualBasic and ASP (served-side) and JavaScript (client side) but could be implemented in any other language of choice. The results during the academic year 2005/06 show a 32% increase in laboratory sessions attendance and 9% increase in alumni passing the subject.
