Teaching in the classroom is a dynamic interpersonal process involving teachers and students in both cognition and affect. However, statistics have indicated that in today's college English classrooms, the teacher-centered and teachingcentered approach is still rather prevalent with teachers focusing on the improvement of students' cognitive competence while neglecting the significant functions of affective factors to the success of language learning, which has unavoidably led to the unsatisfactory results of college English teaching (CET).Based on theory of modern education and psychology of affect teaching, this paper argues that in order to catch up with our rapidly developing society, it is urgent to arouse the consciousness of college English teachers to improve CET with affect.
