The lecture is devoted to film flows under the action of the thermocapillaryeffect. We start with the description of basic principles and models governing the interface on the macroscopic, mesoscopic and microscopic levels. We consider extensions of standard hydrodynamic models which are necessary for studying the interfacial phenomena in ultra-thin films. A special attention is given to instabilities of ther-mocapillary flows. Different classes of instabilities of non-isothermal flows are analysed, and their nonlinear development is considered. Specifically, we investigate the nonlinear dynamics of an ultra-thin film under the simultaneous action of the thermocapillary stresses and the van-der-Waals disjoining pressure.
