Our results suggest that broadband visible light changes the cellular redox state, where blue light is more effective than red one. It seems that blue light may be more clinically useful than is commonly supposed, despite the low penetration of blue light in tissue. However, red light including substantial amounts of near IR, also lead to some redox reactivity, which may explain how red light and near IR affect cells.
