With the above-mentioned projects and the proven results, the viability of a long-held vision is confirmed: The mini mill production route is a profit-making reality for long product producers. Optimum efficiency can be achieved due to a dedicated and optimally coordinated mini mill concept for the production of billets/blooms and all kind of rolled products. The term "mini" for these kinds of mills is only valid for the production costs. In terms of productivity, capacities, flexibility and future orientation, today's long product mini mills should really be called "maxi mills". As an innovative frontrunner in the field of the single process equipment, Siemens VAl puts significant effort into achieving comprehensive and relentless optimization throughout the complete production route, from the major items of the process equipment to the minor ones throughout the complete plant. The development of smart layouts and supporting process tools is also an important part of the overall picture.
