Cooperative Globalization of Engineering Education - An Overview of the Texas AM University Branch Campus at Qatar as Part of Education City in Doha, Qatar

This paper presents an overview of a program for cooperative globalization of engineering education by Texas A&M University, as well as several other universities, which are part of Education City located in Doha, Qatar, established by the Qatar Foundation in 1995. The Qatar Foundation is headquartered in a unique Education City, a 2,500-acre campus on the outskirts of Doha which hosts branch campuses of some of the world's leading universities, as well as numerous other educational and research institutions. In addition, the paper will present some of the unique aspects of creating an international branch campus consisting of four Texas A&M University engineering programs in Doha, Qatar, and the progress made thus far in developing an educational and accreditation process in parallel to that of the main campus located in College Station, TX.
