The present paper shows a basic research for Inertial Navigation equipment using MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) sensors.Normally,in smalls vessels,it is used the gyro compass,magnet compass or GPS compass for deciding ship's heading,and GPS for making ship's position.GPS is very suceessful equipment and used many applications in these days.However,considering the latest advancement in electronics,it might be able to build the autonomous system with low cost.One of autonomous systems is Inertial Navigation System which traditionally used in the military industry,a submarine,the aerospace industry and researches in some special areas.Even though,it is a very successful system,its cost is much higher than other systems and also the system is needed large space.This is because,it is needed very accurate systems,for example RLG,FOG or even better gyro compass and also-very accurate aecelerometers.In addition to those,the complicated system also increases its cost.To overcome this problem,it would be needed much cheaper and smaller equipment.One considering solution is using MEMS(Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) sensors.MEMS devices overcome many of the features that have impended the adoption of inertial systems by many potential applications,especially where cost,size and power consumption have been governing parameters.Although it is said that MEMS sensors are low accuracy,according to the teclmologieal advancement,their accuracy are dramatically improved in these days.The one of new MEMS sensors,the MEMS electro statically gyro sensor is released from Japanese company in last year.The sensor is greatly improved its accuracy compared with existing MEMS sensors.It has already got potential to be built a low cost compass system.More over,INS for short term use and integrated systems are also considered.
