Basotect~reg; - From Brittle to Flexible

Basotect~® is a flexible open-cell foam made from melamine resin, a brittle thermoset plastic belonging to the aminoplastics group. Its characteristic feature is the delicate three-dimensional filigree network structure formed from thin and hence readily formable filaments (see Fig. 1). This particular structure of Basotect~® aftords a broad range of attractive properties. Its outstanding qualitative features are high sound absorption capacity, good thermal insulation properties, flame resistance, heat resistance, and low weight. These advantages of Basotect~® result in an extensive range of applications.
