The cleaning process involves the use of a cold medium, e.g. carbon dioxide dry ice, and compressed air. A multi-component rotating set of fixed and free disks (13-16) on a flexible shaft is used in the cold air flow as it cools the surface. the rotating disks clean off layers of dirt, which is made brittle by the cold.
