Hands-On Case Study

We are looking forward to your working with us on this case study for the Maryland 210 corridor. We picked this corridor because we hope it will represent something you can relate to in your area. This is a typical suburban radial corridor (Figure 1). It is south of Washington, D.C., in Prince George's County, and parallels the Potomac River. To the west of the river is Virginia, and to the south of the project is Charles County, Maryland. The north end of the project is at the Capital Beltway, just at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. The purpose of this breakout session is for you to help us meet the challenges of smart growth in a suburban corridor by using our transportation tools to address smart growth issues, to see if we can develop this kind of a corridor in a manner consistent with CSD principles. The following are the key issues we need to address: 1. How do we apply transportation tools to address smart growth issues? 2. How do we develop the MD-210 project to be consistent with CSD principles?
