Pyrochlore structure oxide (La_(0.5)Sm_(0.5))_2(Zr_(0.9)Ce_(0.1))_2O_7 was prepared by mixing the appropriate amounts of ZrO_2, La_2O_3, Sm_2O_3 and CeO_2, followed by reacting at 1600°C for 10 h. It was shown that the thermal conductivity was much lower than that of 8YSZ, which was mainly ascribed to the oxygen vacancies and lattice strain in lattice of (La_(0.5)Sm_(0.5))_2(Zr_(0.9)Ce_(0.1))_2O_7 .
