The International Association for Biologicals (IABs) and Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI) are pleased to be co-sponsors of this international veterinary meeting for consideration of alternative licensing procedures for vaccines for minor species, minor indications and autogenous/autologous products. As the title suggests, this meeting is intended to address alternative licensing procedures for these vaccines. However, we should interpret licensing procedures in the broad sense. That is, we should discussall regulatory requirements for vaccines for minor species, minor indications and autogenous/autologous products and how they could be constructed or amended to maintain appropriate standards of purity, safety, potency, and efficacy yet provide procedures that permit or encourage the development and marketing of these products.
