Current Situation and Use of Autogenous Vaccines in France: The Views of the Manufacturer and the User

The veterinary use of autogenous vaccines, products originally developed by veterinarians themselves, has grown over the past twenty years. The causes are many: the emergence of new diseases, better diagnosis, the existence of laboratories specializing in autogenous vaccine production, and the expectations of society and economic constraints, which prefer prevention to cure. Despite this, the use of autogenous vaccines is limited and the lack of information given to veterinarians does not explain everything. This document is intended to describe the situation in France with regard to the use of autogenous vaccines and to describe the expectations of both the manufacturer and the prescribing veterinarian user.
