INDUSTRY TAKES A PRO-ACTIVE APPROACH: THE AIA-AMC-GEIA LEAD-FREE ELECTRONICS IN AEROSPACE PROJECT WORKING GROUP

The purpose of the Lead-free Electronics in Aerospace Project (LEAP) is to develop and implement actionable deliverable items that enable the aerospace/defense industries to accommodate the global transition to lead-free electronics. The deliverable items address problems that are unique to and are within the control of the aerospace and defense industries. These deliverables are in the form of standards and guidelines. The LEAP team is comprised of aerospace/defense OEMs, suppliers, and government customers and end users. The team has been working closely for two years on generating documents to provide guidance to the industry in the use, handling, qualification, and management of lead-free technology in aerospace and defense systems.
