It was suggested that the mechanism of progestin action on fish^ sperm involving membrane progestin receptor is basically similar to that in mammals and has been evolutionarily conserved amongst vertebrates (Thomas et al., 2005). By now the evidencesof nongenomic progesterone action on fish sperm were related to fish from the perciformes order. However, rainbow trout testes contain mRNA of progesterone membrane receptor component subtypes 1 (PGMRC1) and membrane progestin receptors subtypes beta (mPRp), but their presence on rainbow trout sperm membrane is unknown (Mourot et al. 2006). In this work we tested the effects of two progesterone form on calcium influx in rainbow trout sperm. The effect of BSA on obtained result was also evaluated.
