The Layer-by-Layer (LbL) self-assembly technique [1] has been proven as a powerful way for constructing multilayer assemblies with tailored structures. In order to improve the stability of the multilayer, we have developed a method for fabricating stable multilayer by combining the LbL self-assembly and post-chemical reactions within interlayers[2]. In doing so, we have chosen a water soluble photoreactive diazo resin (DAR) as the polycation and fabricated alternately with different building blocks containing sulfonate or carboxylic groups in their backbone[3].
