The results of a series of tests on T-stub connections made up pf welded plates are presented and discussed. These tests provide insight into the behaviour and deformation capacity of this type of connections. The key variables tested include the size of the T-stub, the presence of a stiffener and the bolt diameter. A numerical model for assessment of the nonlinear force-deformation response is also proposed and validated with the experiments. The results show that the quantification of the ductility and the prediction of the governing collapse mode of this component are particularly significant. Current design provisions do not cover this topic, which is important for the design of ductile structures.
