Economic Analysis of End-of-Life Computer Systems in Educational Institutions

In this paper we address the operational and economical aspects of EOL computer systems at educational institutions. To this end we preent an actual case study of a major university in Boston and provide an economical analysis of different options such as disposal, disassembly, recycling, reuse and re-sale of these systems. We recommend a new procedure that will improve the collection and handling processes leading to a structured decision making methodology.
