In the mid-1960's synthetic routes were developed to 2,2-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA),which was to be used as a monomer for the preparation of hexafluoroisopropylidene-containing aromatic polyimides.The synthesis of several 6FDA-based polyimides were reported with several diamines including 2,2-bis(4-aminophenyl)hexafluoropropane (4,4'-6F),4,4'-oxydianiline (4,4'-ODA),and 1,3-bis(4-aminophenoxy)benzene (1,3(4-APB).
