摘要

There has been recent interest to materials scientists in the crystalline colloidal arrays and their unique optical properties. Also, click chemistry has garnered a great deal of interest recently due to its adaptability in linking molecules to create novel structures. In particular, the post-polymerization functionalization of polymers synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) has seen considerable growth, as the functionalized polymers allow for introduction of different macromolecules to create more complex systems. In addition to the work involving click reactions and suitably modified polymer chains, recent research has been conducted involving the modification of colloidal particles using click chemistry. This work have been focused upon reaction of surface acetylene groups, of the poly(propargyl acrylate) (PA) colloid, with an azide (N3) functionalized small molecule.
