Reactive barrier films

摘要

Films containing immobile reactive species can dramatically retard diffusing solutes like oxygen and water vapor. The theory for these films which is develoepd here shows that this retardation is not in the steady state permeability, but in the lag before permeability first occurs. The results, which seem consistent with preliminary experiemnts, provide a rationale for building better barriers.
