Thermal spray technologies are important in a variety of different industries for the deposition of antiwear coatings based on metallic, carbide containing ceramic or composite materials. Plasma spraying processing has already found a wide range of applications in the automotive industry [1 - 7]. The high thermal energy density available within a plasma for melting powder coupled to the ability to manufacture powder and design plasma guns for specific applications with short spray distances has rapidly promoted the use of plasma spraying [7-11].
