Wind noise is a major issue for cars, yet simulation remains challenging. Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) vehicle models are efficient for broadband, full-frequency loads typically associated with wind noise and are commonly used to support the design of glasses and interior trim and sound package to meet acoustic targets. Traditional methods of converting test data or CFD results to SEA loads may involve oversimplification and inaccuracies regarding interior noise prediction. This paper presents a methodology in which wavenumber analysis is used to process compressible CFD data into a complex, fully-detailed load easily compatible with Statistical Energy Analysis vehicle models.
