Analysis of characteristic of pedestrian's behavior just before accident or near-accident recorded by Drive Video Recorder

This paper discusses a characteristic of pedestrian's behavior just before an accident or a near-accident of motion pictures acquired by Drive Video Recorders. 90 cases were analyzed about the factors and the peripheral situation using information acquired by Global Positioning System(GPS). According to the results, pedestrian's behavior was not so dangerous as bicyclists. We could find the background of dangerous behavior of pedestrians using the peripheral situation and pedestrians' behavior as well as that of bicyclists. Especially, pedestrian proved to be easy to take the very unimaginable and dangerous behavior at the particular situation such as a feeling of being late for the last train. This characteristic was found in several cases for all the age of the pedestrian.
