There are many candidates as the prime mover of the vehicles for the 21st century. Fuel cells, advanced gasoline engines, advanced diesel engines, or other Systems, including the combinations of various combustion engines with the electric motor. Overviews about pro & con for these prime movers are explained and the compression ignition combustion system of premixed mixtures is positively reviewed as a most promising system.
