Fiscal year 1998-1999 was a mixed year for CMI. Home lecture, chapter co-sponsored and laboratory courses trended downward while in-plants courses and video ales exceeded forecast. Work continued on the Institute's business and marketing plans and several staff changes took place. The total number of scheduled courses was up three from the previous year. However, the trend that had been continuing for the past several years of good attendance reversed during this fiscal. The average attendance for all classes was 22.6, which is down from 24.3 the previous year. The 10-year history of attendance shown in Figure 1 indicates a total attendance of 2,644 for the year, down 124 from the previous year and the fourth highest in the last five years. [Ed. Note: Tables and figures can be obtained in the CMI office.] The history of total programs held is shown in Figure 2. The fiscal 1999 total is 112, up two from the previous year.
