DISCUSSION OF THE PALACIN AND SEDDON LECTURES

Session VI involved two unrelated lectures. The first was presented by Dr. Serge Palacin who addressed the topic of Supramolecular Architecture in Langmuir-Blodgett films. He is currently pursuing the building of a two-dimensional conducting film using tetrasubstituted monomers. The preorientation of the tetrasubstituted monomers showed a significant effect on the mechanism of the two-dimensional coupling. By combining one- and two-dimensional systems, he hopes to realize a three-dimensional network including two-dimensional conducting layers separated by linear conducting rods.
