This paper introduces a new method to emasure gas istantaneous thermodynamic paraemters by laser Interferometry. Measurement of the gas local instantaneous density as wel las temperautre has been carried out in both combustion chamber and crevice region. The results showed that this method can measure the gas loacal instantaneos density and teperautre with high resopnse and precision.This method is considered to be an effecti9ve approach in the studying of agas lcal instantaneous thermodyynamic parameters. The measuring results in combustion chamber showed that the thermodynamic parameters of unbumed mixture prior to flame front approcimate to those of adiabatic compression, only those of the mixture near the wall (less than 1mm) deviates from adiabatic compression. The results in crevice region showed that this method has an advantage in measuring the thermodynaic parameters, especially, tose in the narrow space such as combustion chamber erevices in engines.
