The CIPM's Mutual Recognition Arrangement was originally signed in October 1999 since when it has attracted considerable worldwide interest. Its main requirements include: participation in a series of Key Comparisons and the publication of results; validation of the routine Calibration and Measurement Capabilities of NMIs; and the installation of Quality Management System in signatory NMIs. This paper will report on the current status of the MRA, and the data which have been entered into the BIPM's Key Comparison Database (wwww.bipm.org). It will draw out some of the implications of the results for NMIs and the technical and other benefits achieved so far.
