The kinematic viscosity, v, of liquids very significantly affects the performance of turbine flowmeters used to measure the flow of liquids. In this paper, the effect of v on turbine flowmeter performance is investigated in order to correct for v. A previously-published "linearization" procedure is first used to determine the linear region of performance of turbine flowmeters. The v-dependence is then assigned to the parameters a and b in the linear equation relating pulse frequency to volume flow rate. Calibration data for three turbine flowmeters are used to illustrate the analysis. For all three of the flowmeters, a was linear with v. For the two flowmeters of the same manufacturer, b was linear with 1/v; for the other flowmeter, b was linear with v. The procedures are shown to very satisfactorily solve the v-dependence problem.
