Co-operation of Standards Laboratories in Practice. (and future?)

The increase of Global activities leads to a growing need for International acceptance of measurement results and certificates. At the basis of these stands that the relation of the Primary Standards between National Standard Institutes is monitored properly and that the traceability of Internationally accepted Standards becomes established in a correct way. National Standard Institutes are continuously working on enforcement of this basis. During the presentation session (5D) some recent examples, initiative and future trends contributing to this enforcement will be presented, like sharing of standards, new declaration of equivalence, monitoring scheme's (bilateral, (inter)regional, global intercomparisons), joint research and development of new standards, the fourth framework Program (SMT) in Europe, etc. Also some difficulties encountered will be mentioned.
