The decade of the nineties represents the greatest redistribution cycle of Capital Assets and Real Estate in the history of the world. The auction process is at the forefront of this movement as the most efficient and timely method to accomplish this task. This claim is substantiated daily by reading any national publication. The Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), General Services Administration (GSA), and major financial institutions rely heavily upon open outcry public auctions to achieve maximum return on their sales of large amounts of capital assets, real estate and loan portfolios. Fortune 1000 Companies worldwide are now establishing teams whose sole responsibility is to analyze operations, identify unused capital assets and to arrange their subsequent sale. The selling of unused equipment or inventory into the secondary market can be as dull as a stroll through a dusty warehouse or as exciting as ten thousand frenzied auction buyers at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center, all trying to buy a piece of history at the auction conducted for Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York City.
