The processes and equipment for INURFH(Isothermal Normalizing by Utilizing the Residual Forged Heat)of alloy carburizing steel products are presented. It is shownthat four key parameters: namely (I) cooling rate beforeisothermal normalizing, (II) the lowest cooling temperaturebefore isothermal normalizing, (III) isothermal normalizingtemperature and (IV) isothermal normalizing time, should becontrolled. THE prediction and calculation of theseparameters can be achieved on the basis of componentstreated and the technical requirements of the steel parts by anon-line expert system. The cost-reductions due to the energysavings resulting from implementing this system forautomotive parts heat-treatment are most promising.
