Tailoring molecular interactions at surface interfaces is ademanding and multidisciplinary challenge.' The ability to successfullycontrol surface interactions at the molecular level enables mediation ofmany types of bulk surface properties such as: chemical (reactivity vscatalytic activity vs passivation), physio-chemical (occlusion vsadsorption vs lubrication), biological (biocompatibility vs denaturing vstoxicity), physical (morphology, surface energy, robustness), optio-electronical (reflectivity, semi-conductivity, plasmonic behavior),2'3 etc.The ability to control important interfacial phenomena as mentionedultimately stems from the ability to generate effective methologies fordesigned, molecular level, surface modifications.'
