摘要

Materials employed in biomedical technology are increasinglybeing designed to have specific, desirable biological interactions withtheir surroundings, rather than the older common practice of trying toadapt traditional materials to biomedical applications.' To this anumber of polymers and polymer-modified surfaces have beenintroduced to date that direct the attachment of living cells to artificialsurfaces.2 Besides a precise control of linking bioactive ligands topolymers, there are the surface physico-chemical properties thatcontrol the final interaction of living cells with ligand-presenting artificialmaterials to a great extent.
