We report on the observation of resonant vibrational energy transfer in a liquid at room temperature. This resonant energy transfer process is observed to occur for the O-H stretch vibration in solutions of HDO in D_2O and in neat liquid water (H_2O). For solution of HDO in D_2O, the energy-transfer can be quantitatively described with a model in which the O-H groups are coupled via dipole-dipole interactions. Surprisingly, this description strongly underestimates the rate of energy transfer thatn is observed for neat liquid water, which indicates the presence of additional interaction mechanisms.
