The DLR selection procedure for operators in socio - technical systems is presented. After a job analysis several psychological variables are used to select subjects for man - machine environments. The process of selection includes group and individual testing, as well as a psychological interview. Knowledge, mental abilities and also personality factors are taken into account for the selection. Principles for the selection procedure and the decision making in the selection process are shown. Validity studies show good prediction of job success.
