摘要

We demonstrate a possibility of applying the kinetic indentation method to the determination of the size of a representative elementary volume of a metal matrix composite. The composite consists of an aluminum alloy matrix and 10 vol.% of silicon carbide reinforcement. The procedure involves analysis of indentation curves obtained by the Berkovich indenter for different loads. A variation coefficient of indentation curves serves as the repeatability criterion.
