Air breathing propulsion is a critical research area for the aviation industry, which relies on the development of new technologies to improve safety and reliability of these systems while also reducing costs. This paper discusses some of the ongoing research at The Ohio State University focused on meeting the needs of industry as well as a comprehensive set of propulsion education courses available to train the future workforce in this industry. Research topics addressed include: turbine heat transfer, aerodynamics, and performance; foreign object ingestion; and the structural dynamics of all types of turboma-chinery. Course offerings range from introductory undergraduate classes to very focused upper level graduate courses on propulsion.
