As described in this paper, we present a new simple design method for ceramic pressure-tight housings. It consists of ceramic cylinders, metal caps, and metal couplings between ceramic cylinders. We took the low coefficient of friction between the ceramic cylinders and metal caps into consideration, and confirmed that it reduces the stresses on the ceramic cylinder and consequently heightens the pressure resistance. We confirmed its validity through a series of finite element analysis (FEA). We also made a small pressure-tight housing using alumina ceramic cylinders and aluminum alloy caps, and confirmed its pressure resistance by hydraulic pressure tests.
