This paper is concerned with the experimental study of the temporal instabilities and spatial inhomogeneity of the plastic flow in metals due to the Luder's behavior, the evolution of the postcritical deformation and damage accumulation in specimens of the carbon steel (C1010) with concentrators. Here, digital image correlation and infrared thermography are used as full-field techniques to obtain inhomogeneous displacement, strain and temperature fields. It is shown the influence of the stress concentrators on the yield delay effect and on the processes of the initiation and propagation of the localized deformation bands during uniaxial tension tests. Based on the previously considered criteria of the transition of the deformation process to the postcritical deformation stage, the evolution of the postcritical deformation zone was observed and identified on the surface of the specimens with concentrators.
