During the verification of safe operation of containers for radioactive waste it is possible to use analytical, numerical and experimental methods of mechanics. Determination of residual stresses was one part of the analysis. The residual stresses in the container body can be induced during its production, overloading during operation, radiation or by thermal processes. In the paper there are presented results of analysis of residual stresses in containers using strain-gage hole-drilling method.
