Vocational Dimension of Students' Option for the Environmental Engineering Curricular Area

The paper presents a diagnostic study on the vocational potential of the graduate students from the Environmental Engineering Department of the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, for four occupations specific to this curricular area. The approach is based on the presupposition that any vocation is a mix of skills and vocational interest for a certain field and/or position, which are shaped during the development process of a person. The study deals with the vocational interests, which are measured with the JVIS test on 30 people, undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students. We analyze to what degree a well outlined vocational interest profile is determined by the configuration of the dominant occupational themes and its relevance for the main occupations in the field of Environmental Engineering (environmental counsellor, commissioner, researcher and environmental entrepreneur). Over 80% of the studied profiles are well outlined and over 50% of them are relevant.
