摘要

Non-ionic cellulose ethers such as methyl cellulose (MC) and hydroxyalkyl methyl celluloses (HAMC) have a wide field of application in food-, pharmaceutical- and cosmetic producing industry. To get a deep insight on the complex composition of the material and to improve the understanding of structure-property relationships, substituent distributions on all structural levels have to be carefully analyzed. For the determination of substituent patterns along the chains the polymer is partially depolymerized to oligomers and analyzed by mass spectrometry with soft ionization methods like electrospray ionization (ESI). In order to obtain reliable molar ratios for all the different compounds in wide mass range, acquisition parameters have to be chosen carefully.
