Coal is abundant and widely distributed in the world. Moreover, coal price is cheap and stable, compared to other fossil energy sources. However, coal has some disadvantages, such as a lot of greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions in combustion. In order to solve these problems, Research and Development on Clean Coal Technologies (CCT), which are the technologies to make effective use of coal with less emission, have been worked all over the world. Especially, it is important for Asia to distribute Clean Coal Technologies as future energy supply and environmental measures, because over 50 percent of all coal supply in 2008 is consumed in Asia, and, according to some research institute, it is predicted that energy demand in Asia will expand drastically in the future by economic growth.
