FOSSIL ENERGY, CLEAN COAL TECHNOLOGY, AND FUTUREGEN

Coal contributes mightily toward sustaining the economic well-being and the standard of living in America and has a significant role to play in terms of future U.S. energy supply. It's vitally important, not just to those regions where coal is mined, but also to the economic well-being of states where it is burned. The public and the mainstream media often lose sight of that fact. Coal is the most abundant fossil energy, not just in the U.S., but worldwide. In fact, the three most populous developing countries (China, India, and Indonesia) have significant coal resources and they plan to use them to fuel their future economic growth. As a leader among developed nations, the U.S. has an obligation and an opportunity to develop and provide developing countries with technology to use their available energy resources in an environmentally responsible manner.
