LYVE-1 as marker of lymphangiogenesis in different stages of gastric cancer

The research was taken to spare knowledge about lymphangiogenesis in gastric cancer. Studies concerned 82 human gastric cancers operated at Department of General and Oncological Surgery in Wrocl-aw between 1997 and 2006. Different stages and different histopathological types of cancers were investigated. The relationship between inflammatory infiltration, cancer cells thrombosis,, TNM stage, histopathological type, survival rate and lymph vessel density were studied. As the markers for lymphangiogenes LYVE-1 and podoplanin were used. Discrepancy between these two markers concerning distribution and density was proved. There was no correlation between lymph vessel density and survival rate and TNM stageing.
