Finding early biomarkers will contribute to early detection and treatment.Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the main cause of chronic renal failure (CFR). Ha-emodynamic and metabolic components that are found directly involved. The patient presents clinical symptoms, high blood pressure, proteinuria, progressive decrease of the glomerular filtration, and cardiovascular events. The cellular mechanisms that lead to the renal damage are not completely clear. The increase of proteinuria is the first clinical sign of the existence of a DN, which develops in stages characterized by hyperfiltration, continued by microalbuminuria and uremia. Glycemic control and early detection of the renal complication help to preserve the renal function, nevertheless, no predictors are presented. The skills of proteomics have been applied extensively to explore the complexity of the mechanisms associated with DN, and to identify new biomakers that can be potentially therapeutic targets.
